To understand Moroccan geography, you must start by observing the coast:

From north to south, on the coast we find the cities of Rabat, Casablanca, El Jadida, Safi, Essaouira and Agadir.

To the north, we find the city of Fez, also very touristy.

To the east of Essaouira lies the more inland city of Marrakech, and to the southeast of Marrakech is the drier and arid city of Ouarzazate, on the edge of the Moroccan desert.

Morocco has 12 regions, the details of which are as follows:

1-Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, having as its capital Tangier-Assilah with Tanger-Assilah, M'diq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen and Ouazzane.

2- The Oriental region, having as its capital Oujda-Angad with Oujda-Angad, Nador, Driouech, Jerada, Berkane, Taourirt, Guercif and Figuig.

3- The region of Fez-Meknes, having as its capital Fez with Meknes, Hajeb, Ifrane, Moulay Yacoub, Sefrou, Boulmane, Taounate and Taza.

4- Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, having Rabat as its capital with Rabat, Salé, Skhirat-Témara, Kénitra, Khémisset, Sidi Kacem and Sidi Slimane.

5- The region of Beni Mellal-Khénifra, having as capital Beni Mellal with Beni Mellal, Azilal, Fqih Bensaleh, Khénifra and Khouribga.

6- The Greater Casablanca-Settat region, having Casablanca as its capital with Casablanca, Mohammedia, El Jadida, Nouaceur, Mediouna, Benslimane, Berrechid, Settat and Sidi Bennour.

7- The region of Marrakech-Safi, having as its capital Marrakech with Marrakech, Chichaoua, Al Haouz, Kelaa Sraghna, Essaouira, Rhamna, Safi and Youssoufia. 8- The region of Darâa-Tafilalet, having as its capital Errachidia with Midelt, Tinghir and Zagora.

9- Souss-Massa region, with Agadir Ida-Outanane as its capital with Ida-Outanane- Inezgane Aït Melloul, Chtouka Aït Baha, Taroudante, Tiznit and Tata.

10- The region of Guelmim-Oued Noun, having as its capital Guelmim with Guelmim, Assa-Zag, Tan-Tan, Sidi Ifni.

11- Region of Laayoune-Saguia El Hamra, having as its capital Laayoune with Laayoune, Boujdour, Tarfaya and Smara.

12- The region of Dakhla-Oued-Eddahab, having as its capital Oued-Eddahab with Oued-Eddahab and Aousserd.
